Then.
I was born and raised in a small town, Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania. Altoona is its neighboring town, which is about 45 minutes from Penn State University main campus and also has a branch campus of its own. I was always one to love school — obtained good grades and participated in music and sports.

High school was when I started to develop my true love for nutrition, my senior project was even about the food guide pyramid. I started to look into colleges and immediately told my dad that I wouldn’t even apply to a school unless it had a nutrition program. I didn’t want a large school yet I wanted a competitive school…so my dad and older brother, George, began their own college search. And that’s how I ended up attending Case Western Reserve University.

I had a wonderful college experience, obtaining my Master of Science in Public Health Nutrition (Aug ’09) + my Bachelor of Science in Nutrition (Jan ’08). I also completed my Dietetic Internship (Aug ’09) with a Maternal/Child specialty in conjunction with my Masters. Upon graduation, I married my best friend, John, on September 19, 2009. I sat for the national examination in November ’09 to become a Registered Dietitian and passed on the first attempt. It was both one of the most nerve-wracking and exciting moments to date.
Toward the end of my Masters, I was diagnosed with gluten intolerance and told I had pre-Celiac Disease.
Now.
I currently have a career with the pleasure of wearing many hats. I perform dietetic consulting, offer online nutrition services, write my blog, freelance write, and speak at health/fitness conferences. I’m also a Community Manager with Touchstone Marketing Group.

I’ve been running for almost two years now and have completed four half marathons since then. My blog serves as a way to monitor my progress with running, showcase my gluten-free recipes, provide nutrition tips, and gab about my life.
Recently, the most exciting part of my life is learning that I’m going to be a mommy!

My husband and I also just relocated from Cleveland to Germantown, MD and are looking forward to learning all about our new city!
I hope you enjoy my little corner of the blog world. Feel free to become a fan on facebook or follow me on twitter — I’d really appreciate it and can’t wait to talk nutrition with you!
