The Power of Protein

Recently I’ve had pretty cool opportunities to try different types of workout routines. Next week I’ll be following a bootcamp style workout by trainer Jennifer Cohen. Muscle Milk will be providing me with a week’s worth of chocolate and vanilla Muscle Milk Protein Nutrition Shake to try after completing the workouts. I often drink chocolate milk after my workouts because of its perfect ratio of protein to carbohydrate, so I’m excited to try these shakes!

Protein plays a very important role in repairing muscle glycogen stores post-fitness. It is important to have a snack 15-30 minutes after fitness that includes a combination of protein and carbohydrates to prepare your body for future bouts of fitness. Including fluid during this snack is also imperative. Drinking the shake will combine all necessities into one tasty post-workout snack! I actually have never tried any type of protein shake before, so I’m pretty pumped about testing this out.

For complete nutritional needs post-work out, a meal should be consumed 60-90 minutes after fitness, plus more fluid.  Drinking 2 cups of water for every pound lost is the general recommendation. Once again, both protein and carbohydrates are important.

I’m excited to be sharing my experiences with you about Jennifer Cohen’s bootcamp style workout and the benefits of Muscle Milk (plus the taste, how it made me feel, etc!).
