When Glam emailed me about my interest in Neutrogena and its upcoming campaign, I was more than happy to complete a submission form. I was so happy when I found out I was chosen for the campaign! I’m a huge Neutrogena fan and there are few products in my life that I will only buy Neutrogena brand – namely the fragrance free sun block and body oil.
You see, I’ve always had sensitive skin. For the most part I use only fragrance free items and was stoked when I found out I would be trying Neutrogena lines of natural products. A few of the below items are completely fragrance free and a few have some scent to them. I also love that Neutrogena is a brand recommended by dermatologist and their products have been allergy tested. These facts help my sensitive skin more at ease when trying a new product.
The Neutrogena Naturals bag of goodies I received included purifying facial cleanser, facial cleansing and makeup remover, purifying pore scrub, multi-vitamin nourishing moisturizer, multi-vitamin nourishing night cream, face & body bar, and lip balm.
The first product I tried was the purifying pore scrub. I’ve been having a little more acne than usual do too all my post-pregnancy hormones and thought it would be nice to try the new scrub first! John and I both actually tried the scrub and we now keep it in the shower. The product’s formula is 94% naturally derived and it’s said to be hypoallergenic, suitable for acne prone skin, and won’t clog pores.
So far this product is great! It contains a Jojoba bead scrub which isn’t abrasive like some other products. In fact, the bead scrub is very gentle and lacks that super grainy feeling that some scrubs have. My sensitive skin has been doing wonderfully with this product and I’m excited to have my mom try it when we visit PA soon (she has sensitive skin too).
The next product I tried (okay, this one was tried immediately), was the lip balm. I’m super picky when it comes to lip balms and currently I only have two (now three!) brands of lip balm that I use. My criteria for liking a lip balm are as follows: cannot be sticky at all, must stay on lips a fair amount of time, must be affordable and easy to find in the store. Neutrogena naturals lip balm certainly met my criteria. I cannot praise this lip balm enough. I’m even thinking about kicking out one of the other brands in my rotation – gasp!
The lip balm is 100% naturally derived, fragrance free, and the main ingredient is beeswax. Boy am I a sucker for beeswax products! My lips feel so nice and smooth!
Next up we have the multi-vitamin nourishing night cream. I often forget about taking care of my skin while sleeping, but now with this night cream I have a whole tub of awesome to help me out. Since I don’t have a lot of experience wearing this type of product I’m not sure how to compare it to something else. However, I can tell you that the first few nights of wearing it, it gave my face a cool sensation. I was able to feel this since I wake up to nurse Xander. I don’t know if this is how it’s supposed to feel but it felt nice!
The product is 97% naturally derived is allergy tested and won’t clog pores. I certainly don’t want something that’s going to clog my pores if I’m wearing it over night! My sensitive skin has been doing well with this product as well. I do wash my face in the morning to make sure all the product is gone before putting on make up (if I’m putting on make up that day).
And the last product of the bunch I want to talk about is the face & body bar. This bar is my favorite product of them all! It’s an avocado and olive oil bionutrient rich bar that gently cleanses and conditions skin. It’s 99% naturally derived and contains no fragrance. I definitely need to get my mom one of these! Even though this bar is hypoallergenic and fragrance free, it lathers well and gives your skin that awesome clean feeling without leaving your face feel super dry.
Aren’t their make your own shampoo recipes that have you use a bar of soap? I think I need to do a little research because this could be an awesome option for that! And aww look, the bar conveniently made it’s way next to it’s Neutrogena body oil friend (amazing if you’ve never tried it!)
I really enjoyed this campaign and would feel comfortable recommending these products to friends (I was not required to make any mention of whether I recommend the products, but I’m being completely honest with my sentiments).
Since Neutrogena is going natural, let’s talk a little bit about how we go natural in our lives…
John and I live in a county that requires recycling. We love this and wish all the counties did this. It takes a little more time and effort when taking out the trash but we are happy to do it for the environment. We’ve also started to buy natural dish soap, make our own vinegar solution for washing the floors, and have become more mindful of food and water waste.
In my day to day life I also think I give off a pretty natural appearance. Most days I don’t wear make up and when I do, it’s nothing crazy – I rarely ever wear eye make up.
