How is our itty bitty baby 6 weeks old? It is just amazing to see how quickly newborns grow, learn, and develop. I go to my mother groups now and see the “little” babies and think where did our little man go? Of course he is still a little baby, but he’s growing up too fast!
Xander is really developing and it’s so fun to see all his changes! He stares right into our eyes now and is starting to track our faces and items better. He is also starting to smile a lot more often – and smiles that aren’t just reflex smiles! We’re still waiting to catch it on camera or video though!
Baby boy also can lift his head from left to right awhile laying on his belly. That neck is getting so strong! He doesn’t have official tummy time all the time, but since he lays on us so often he gets tons of practice! Plus, since he does love his tummy so much we’ve been letting him have supervised naps on his belly in the pack and play. Bedtime is still happening in the swing in our room though.
Xander and I have been enjoy our mother groups – especially the Monday Discovering Motherhood Group. We still usually go to one of the breast feeding support groups on Wednesday or Friday, but it’s hit or miss if my favorite lactation consultant is there. It’s still nice to get out of the house and talk with other moms though. X man is also doing a ton better eating without the nipple shield. Toward the end of week 6 he’s been feeding about 50% of the time without the shield throughout the day! He still gets it during the night since he doesn’t focus as well while sleepy. I can’t wait to get rid of that shield for good!
That’s about it for this week! I’ll be back soon with my 6 week post partum update – I had my midwife check up on Friday! Have an adorable day
