If you are in my family or one of my close friends, you know exactly who Taurie is… er was. Taurie was my trusty sidekick for 6 years. She was adventurous, safe, and had a thick skin. Taurie was a maroon sedan. She was my first car.
Oh, sure, I had shared “kids cars” growing up, but Taurie, she was my real car love. She was gifted to me from my dad and I eventually took full ownership of her after college. Taurie lasted a long time… just recently retiring in the fall of 2011.
Everyone loved their first car. No matter how beat up or broken down, it was a taste of freedom and you loved it. Even though it lasted only a for a brief time, that emotional connection is an experience that unites us all. Check out my custom illustrated story, you can submit one too at www.firstcarstory.com and bring your story to life with animation and music and share it with your friends.
Here is Taurie’s story:
Pretty neat right? I had the opportunity via Glam and Subaru to animate my story and knew it would be a fun way to bid farewell to Taurie. John and I now own a small blue SUV aka our new “family car,” but my first car will forever hold a special place in my heart. Let’s take a look at some of her adventures:
Those would be pictures from her first flat tire (while on a road trip with Amy), a Cleveland winter (of which she sat outside through many), an engagement trip to Niagara Falls (her first time going out of the country), driving over a big bridge in Florida (where she and I lived for 9 weeks while on rotation), and a trunk full of goodies (after a road trip with Christine).
Taurie has had many passengers and truly lived a good life.
Farewell my dear, parting is such sweet sorrow.

What is your best memory from your first car?

Ahh… I remember having to drive Taurie for a couple of weeks and I hit a curb and put a small dent in the bumper! Haha good times! But then John matched the other side to match when he hit some ice!
Oh gosh, why were you driving Taurie for those weeks? I totally forget! John’s dent happened in our driveway (!!) when the ice slid us into the tree — oh gosh!
When you had moms car for some reason and then she drove my car because it was an suv and then I got stuck driving Taurie.
And my “stuck” I’m sure you mean privilege
I remember driving with you in Taurie to Altoona for the weekend and doing the jewelry party! Such a fun road trip and I’m glad we did it together!!
No Katie that was not a typo!
Hahha. You know it’s not nice to speak ill of the dead…
