Fun Things for Kiddos in Cleveland

Today’s guest post is from my friend Jen of Why CLE. She writes about all the reasons she loves Cleveland and is here today to provide some kid-friendly options! Take it away Jen!

I am honored to be guest posting here as Katie, John, and Baby H. enjoy some holiday travels and make their way back to their new home in Maryland. I thought about refusing to guest post in an effort to make them stay in CLE, but I didn’t think that would work. However, I will do everything I can to entice them to come back to visit!

Cleveland has some wonderful attractions for children. Being born and raised in Cleveland, some of these I remember from grade school field trips and some are newer additions to our city. Here’s a list of some great places to take kids in CLE:

The Great Lakes Science Center: Boasting an IMAX theater, a science phenomena floor, a polymer funhouse, and the NASA Glenn Visitor’s Center, there is plenty here to keep kids (and adults) educated and entertained. Image Source.

The Cleveland Museum of Natural History: With special exhibits such as Polar Obsession and Mythic Creatures, as well as dinosaur fossils, a planetarium, and more, this museum founded in 1920 continues to charm and delight children. Image Source.

The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo: From the African Elephant Crossing to the Wolf Lodge to the Rainforest, kids and their parents can spend hours exploring the zoo.

Memphis Kiddie Park and Cedar Point: For fun close to home, Memphis Kiddie Park has been open on the near west side of Cleveland since 1952 with rides and games for the kiddos. For a small road trip, head west to Cedar Point, where kids can enjoy a huge array of children’s rides, as well as Camp Snoopy featuring the beloved Peanuts characters. Image Source.

Playhouse Square Children’s Theater Series: Each year, Playhouse Square brings in productions aimed at exposing younger audiences to the magic of live theater.

Greater Cleveland Aquarium: Opening in January 2012, the Greater Cleveland Aquarium will feature coastal and saltwater fish, a shark tank, and tanks dedicated to fish native to Ohio. This is sure to be a wonderful addition to downtown CLE!

Cleveland has so much to offer families, with lots of cool things to entertain your children. I hope to see Katie, John, and Baby H. back soon enjoying one of these fun attractions!

And we can’t wait to come back and visit too! Thanks for posting today Jen!!
