2011 Hollidaysburg Turkey Trot Recap

Ohh Hollidaysburg, PA, my hometown, how I love thee.

When determined we’d be going to Pennsylvania for Thanksgiving, we decided to sign up for the local Turkey Trot again. Last year we ran the trot as well, but ran the 2 miler option. John and I both did really well, but this year we had difference goals.

This year our race goals included:

  • run the 5 miler
  • stay together the entire time (all three four of us) — almost forgot to include baby!
  • enjoy baby’s first race to the fullest
  • bring a camera with us
  • wear a baby’s first race shirt
  • walk whenever we want and need
  • don’t think about time

When running a race in central Pennsylvania it’s no surprise that the entire race is rolling hills — these were nice rolling hills and I really enjoyed the 5 mile course.

At some point I do want to do this 5 mile course for time. I really really thought it was a great route!

Before we knew it we arrived at the water station and then headed back to the YMCA. And in just a little over an hour, we completed the course and the obligatory photo shoot ensued.

I know finishing the course in a little over an hour might sound slow to you, but we had fun, walked a lot, and didn’t care that we were in the back of the pack. Plus, there’s the whole feeling like I have to pee the whole time while running thing while pregnant. Fun, right? :)

Anyway, goals were totally met!

Gobble Gobble!

The t-shirts this year were way better than last year, plus we received the right sizes this year — bonus points!

A big thank you to Caity for taking care of the registration for us!! So glad we had this whole experience together and I can’t wait for our next race together! I’m so proud of you sistah!

Did you run a Turkey Trot this year? John and I have determined that Turkey Trot’s are definitely going to be a tradition for our family! We can’t wait to be pushing a stroller in next year’s race and we can’t wait to run a Turkey Trot in our new home as well as try one in John’s hometown!
