It really is.
Weight doesn’t tell you how your blood pressure, cholesterol, waist circumference, A1C, and triglyceride levels are doing.
Weight doesn’t tell you how many miles you can run, how much you can bench press, or how long you can hold plank position.
Weight doesn’t tell you how awesome you are, how smart you are, how blue your eyes are, how amazing a spouse you are, or how you’re the greatest parents.
Weight tells you your weight. That. Is. It.
Why am I harping on weight today? Because this week I finally reached my pre-pregnancy weight. I thought when I reached this point I would feel different some how, but I feel just like me.
If you’ve been following along with my pregnancy journey, you know that I lost 9 pounds during my first trimester. This wasn’t anything to be worried about, a gradual weight gain would just be necessary. Baby was growing fine and the weight loss didn’t effect him.
While I weigh the same now as I did during my pregnancy self, my weight then and my weight now both just tell me my weight.
My pre-pregnancy weight didn’t tell me how good of a sister and friend I am…

My pre-pregnancy weight didn’t tell me how amazing I was for completing 3 half marathons in 3 months…

My weight now doesn’t tell me how well I’m growing baby Heddleston inside of me…
and my weight now doesn’t tell me how good of a mother I’ll be…

My weight tells me my weight and I tell me the rest.
*A Note: I had John read this before scheduling it and he asked me if I was having a bad body image day. I can assure you I am not and have not during my pregnancy. I actually haven’t in a long while and continue to be my own biggest cheerleader. I love my pregnant body and wrote this post to show how a number on the scale does not tell you anything about yourself, especially your worth.

I love this post! Thank you.

Wow. This is a post I needed to read today (my sis, Jess, pointed me to it!) – I just blogged on something similar. Your perspective is refreshing. Needed that today!! Thank you!

This is a great post and one I can read to myself over and over. I recently saw a side-by-side picture of a woman (the same one) at 135 lbs vs. 150 lbs and in the higher weight picture, she was more toned and appeared leaner so at first it looked like a mistake. But it just proved that weight is just a number and doesn’t tell you anything else about your body. There are other numbers for that. Thanks
