Boy Critter or Girl Critter?

In just a few short days we will be having our anatomy scan. This scan will measure all of baby’s bones and parts, but it will also reveal baby’s gender if he or she decides to cooperate. So, what do you think little critter will be?

Old Wives Tales

Tale: If you don’t like chocolate during your pregnancy (and normally do), it’s a boy.

Result: Inconclusive. I didn’t like chocolate during most of the first trimester. Now I do again.

Tale: Take off your shirt and check out your chest. If the left boob is bigger, it’s a girl. If the right boob is bigger, it’s a boy.

Result: Boy. However, my unevenness didn’t start during pregnancy.

Tale: Baby’s heartbeat higher than 150 bmp means girl, lower than 140 bmp means boy.

Result: Inconclusive. Baby was beating 145 at 13 weeks and 140 at 17 weeks. Critter likes to be difficult and not give a start answer!

Tale: Sweet cravings mean girl, sour cravings mean boy.

Result: Inconclusive. I haven’t had any cravings at all.

Tale: Having moderate to severe acne means girl, having no acne to mild acne means boy.

Result: Boy.

Tale: Morning sickness means boy, no morning sickness means girl.

Result: Boy.

Tale: Morning sickness in the night means girl, morning sickness in the morning means boy.

Result: Girl.

Tale: Sleeping on the right side of your body means girl, sleeping on left side means boy.

Result: Boy. But I’ve always slept on my left side.

Online Quizzes

I took this quiz three times so far, seeing if how far along I am made a difference in how I answered the questions.

  • Result: 56% chance boy at 5 weeks 2 days.
  • Result: 60% chance boy at 13 weeks.
  • Result: 53% chance girl at 19 weeks 1 day.

Chinese Gender Chart

  • Result: Girl.

Fun With Numbers

Equation #1: Age (2+6) to your due date month (3) to your conception month (7). Even answer means girl, odd means boy.

Result. Inconclusive. It’s a girl at my current age but a boy at my age of conception.

Equation #2: Conception year (2011) + age. If both numbers are even or or it’s a girl, if one is even and one if odd it’s a boy.

Result: Inconclusive. It’s a boy at my current age but a boy at my age of conception.

Grand Totals: 5 inconclusive, 5 boy, and 3 girl.

Time for you to chime in. Guess what little critter will be in the comments below! (I had a poll set up but I guess it didn’t work!)

    These are all ridiculous!!

I personally have no vibe on what sex your child will be. I just know it’s going to be uber cute. Like his/her parents!

OK…I have no idea what you’re going have after all that. I feel like you’re all over the place! The one thing I have heard to be true is the heartbeat. When Dan’s sister was pregnant, the baby’s heartbeat was like 165 and she had a boy. Our friend Erica was pregnant last year, and her baby’s heat beat was around 140 the entire time. Erica had a girl!

You’re all over the place! There’s another old wives tale (I’m not sure exactly what it is) where you take a pencil and poke a threaded needle in the eraser. Then, you hold the pencil by the string over your wrist. You’re supposed to observe how the pencil swings, it’s been correct with every single one of my family members!
I’m going to say girl…just because!

    Shannon Howell says:

I think it’s going to be a boy– just an intuition. Whether it’s a boy or a girl they are going to be adorable and I can’t wait to find out!!

hahahahahahaha. I laughed all the way through this post because basically none of those tests told you anything :) what is your gut feeling? I mean, family history might be able to give you a better idea…but I’m not even sure how accurate that would be. I can’t wait to hear!

I say girl…just because the gender prediction chart was right for both of mine. Have you had any dreams yet? I had dreams about both my kids and they were right too.

I know its all in good fun, but it is cool to guess and see what wives’ tales say.

haha that’s so funny! I’m staying with my girl vote ;) p.s. I had a feeling from the first week that I found out I was pregnant that it was a boy. When we found out if it was twins, tom asked me if I still thought boy and I said def 1 boy, but I wasn’t sure about the other one. So I think gut instinct does work..a little. of course all the gender predictions came out mixed for me too…and I had a boy and a girl. You sure there aren’t twins in there? haha

We Love to Hear From You
