Happy Valentines Day Everyone!!!
John and I celebrated with a 4:00 pm linner (lunch + dinner) tonight in order to not fight with busy restaurants tomorrow and since I have an early flight Tuesday morning.
We started our Valentine’s celebration at Zocalo Mexican Grill and Tequileria on east 4th street in downtown Cleveland.
John ordered a fancy Blue Lagoon Margarita while I enjoyed a super special tap water.
I made sure to ask the server which meals were gluten-free and one of my top choices was! I was so excited and ended up ordering the Tacos Camarones — Fresh corn tortillas filled with citrus habanero marinated grilled shrimp, shredded chayote cabbage slaw and avocado; served with a side of tomatillo avocado salsa and citrus habanero salsa. I also substituted my side of beans for a side salad with salsa ranch dressing. The complimentary salsa and chips were also gluten-free.
John ordered a combination plate with a beef enchilada and tamale. He especially enjoyed the tamale that had a freshly made corn masa stuffed with beef. It had a fun corn husk presentation too.
We both thoroughly enjoyed Zocala (and will certainly be back!) but knew we wanted to enjoy dessert across the street at The Chocolate Bar.
I ordered the Frozen Hot Chocolate while John enjoyed a decadent Chocolate Mouse Cake — I was tres jealous.
My frozen hot chocolate had a bunch of un-blended ice chunks in it so I’m sure other patrons really enjoyed my spitting them back in the cup. Other than that it was delicious but I would probably choose something different next time. John was super happy with his choice though.
Our Valentine’s celebration was super fun and I followed it up with one hour of cross training (30 min bike / 30 min elliptical). I’m really looking forward to my day off tomorrow followed by enjoyed the rest of the week in Tampa with my brother and sister in law.
