The Great New Years Eve 5K Recap

About a month ago, Alicia, Heather, and I decided to sign up for the NYE 5k in Stow, Ohio together! I was expecting this 5k to be on the smaller side like the first one I did in Hudson, but this race had over 700 participants! This is more people than my first half had!

We all luckily found each other — without even a phone call needing to be made — and took the obligatory pre-race pictures. Alicia was actually recovering from a sickness, so her husband filled in!

The course was up and down hills the whole way through — with the last half having more up hill! John and I were cruising along with a sub-9 minute/mile pace for the first half…

Then the second half hit and my pace steadily decreased. John was the most supportive husband though, running the whole race with me! We even snapped a couple photos of each other during it! Apparently my nostrils flare when I run, who knew?

Then a really sweet pair of girls offered to take our picture together while we were all climbing up one of the last hills! Great picture girls, thanks!

I found some speed for the final half mile and clocked in at 30:03 — making a new PR and feeling ultra proud!! The official results say my time was 30:12 but they only had a sensor at the finish line, not the start line — thus why I’m going with my Nike+ watch time of 30:03. Either way, both times are PR’s :)

This means I had a sub-ten minute/mile pace of 9:40 and I placed 20/42 for my female age division and 463/734 overall!

We had about a minute and a half until Heather’s cute family came in! The family that runs together, finished together she says!

Thanks to Mr. Healthy and my Cleveland blends for running a fun race together!!

What did YOU do on New Years Eve? After the race we cleaned up, went to the Winking Lizard for dinner, and then an evening at home! Happy New Year everyone!!
