Chocolate Truffles

Hi friends! I’ve already provided you with the scrumptious Banana Gob recipe from the Cleveland Bloggers Treat Swap, so now it’s time for the Chocolate Truffle Recipe!

This was my first time making Truffles and it couldn’t be easier! I wanted the truffles to be more milky than bitter, hence the types of chocolate I used in the recipe. However, you could replace the chocolate with any flavor you’d like!

Chocolate Truffles

  • 8 ounces Bakers semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1 11.5 ounce bag of milk chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup skim milk
  • 1/3 cup light margarine
  • 1 Tablespoon corn starch
  • **Toppings** ie. cocoa powder, sprinkles, nuts, etc.

1. Melt Bakers chocolate and margarine in a medium saucepan on low-medium heat.

2. Add chocolate chips, milk, and cornstarch. Stir and melt until smooth.

3. Pour chocolate mixture into a shallow bowl.

4. Place chocolate mixture into the fridge for about 2-3 hours, depending on shallowness of your bowl. I ended up making the truffles in two batches because the top part of my mixture was ready for rolling, but the middle part was not. Just keep an eye on your chocolate and see when it’s malleable enough for rolling. Your mixture should look like this:

Stiff but not too stiff that you can’t work with it.

5. Roll truffles into a ball.

6. Dip and roll around in topping. These are peppermint flavored sprinkles.

7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until all truffles are made. Recipe makes about 24 depending on size of ball. I made mine a little large. Steps 5 and 6 are also easier if you have a friend helping. I did step 5 while John did step 6! It was perfect teamwork! Our other truffle flavor was rolled in high quality cocoa.

8. Enjoy!

Have you ever made truffles? What is the trickiest recipe dessert you’ve ever made?

  1. 1

I’ve never made truffles – they look so messy!! :)

  2. 2

I took a truffle making class last weekend! It was TONS of fun with great results, but I think I’m too scared to do it at home without a professional to guide me. :)
