When I found out John + I were headed to my hometown of Hollidaysburg, I was excited to sign up for the local Turkey Trot. John said he was interested in running as well so we signed up for the 2 miler instead of the 5 miler.
We woke up this morning to howling wind + flurries in the sky. I wasn’t nervous though because I had run in these conditions before. We dressed warmly, drank some water, and were ready to go!
Before the Race
We only waited at the starting line for about 5 minutes before the race began — we were maximizing time in the warmth!
During the Race
Bringing the camera along with us was really fun. Our pictures are a little goofy, but I think I try run with my camera more often! This race was so fun because we ran around the streets near my old high school + so many families were running together! It was so fun to see parents with their children + teenagers all running as a family! John and I certainly had fun as a couple and are looking forward to finding a Christmas run!
We stuck together the whole time and both finished in 16:48!!! I was so happy when I saw that time clock at the home stretch… we picked it up a notch and finished strong!
After the Race
My mom was at the finish line waiting for us! She snapped this quick picture and then we went instead the YMCA to have breakfast + hot cocoa sponsored by Sheetz. Yum.
We went into the gym to finish our hot cocoa + race times were beginning to get posted! We wanted to see how we both did and turns out John got 3rd place for his age group!! I was so pleased and snapped a quick picture!
I didn’t get a photo of mine but I got 4th place in my age group! What a pleasant surprise for the both of us! I of course had John pose for the obligatory picture with his medal! Proud wifey.
Did you run in a Turkey Trot this year? Do you want to run in one in the future?

I love to do Turkey Trots on Thanksgiving! This year I ran in the morning alone, but I definitely missed the holiday cheer and friendly spirit in the air that is usually abundant at Thanksgiving Day races! Looked like a lot of fun, too!

I don’t know how you can run in that cold. I’m cold just looking at the pictures! Congrats on the great run, you did great! It is really fun to run with a camera, I tried it this Turkey Trot for the first time, too. A bit awkward, but fun. Happy Thanksgiving.
